Thoughts on Silicon Valley Bank and Student Loans
Another bank faces collapse and the Federal government is stepping in to protect depositors. Some are blaming deregulation of small and medium sized banks. Some are comparing bailing out the bank to bailing out students for their loans. There is certainly a lot of finger pointing. We must realize the difference between a depositor in… Continue reading

The Science of Failure
Philosopher Karl Popper stated that we can never prove anything to be true. No matter how often something has happened in the past, there is always the possibility that it won’t happen in the future. We can prove that something is false. If something is false, we can discard it. In A Brief History of… Continue reading

Do You Have the Entrepreneur Skillset?
My wife and I were helping our son while his wife is away on a business trip. The kids are up at 7:00 and at school or daycare by 8:00. I was surprised that the kids could get ready so fast. My son has to take one child to school. His wife takes the other… Continue reading

What Is the Most Important Thing You Ever Learned?
We often think about information, when we think about learning. An ah-ha for me was when I realized there are two basic definitions of intelligence. One definition is information. There Is Nothing Wrong with Me
I’ve been exercising for three minutes per day for about 14 months. I feel and look better than I’ve felt and looked in years. What makes this progress incredible is that I was feeling and looking pretty good before I started. In fact, half the men twenty years younger than me would probably love to… Continue reading

How Do Physical Laborers Become Wealthy?
It is always fun to hear about a mechanic or a maid who leaves over a million-dollar estate to a college or charity. How do they do it? In every case, they do what most people won’t. They work long hours. They often work multiple jobs. They live below their means. They invest and allow… Continue reading

What about your future?
Changing the world begins with changing ourselves. Think about a world with no people. Then add one. That one person only has self-interest. There is nobody else to care about. The person’s actions are private. Now add one person. For the first time two people can work together. They can form a community. They can… Continue reading

Thinking – The Pursuit of Truth
Earl Nightingale started his talk, The Strangest Secret, with the following: I’d like to tell you about the strangest secret in the world. Some years ago, the late Nobel Prize winning Dr. Albert Schweitzer was being interviewed in London and the reporter asked him, “Doctor, what’s wrong with men today?” The great doctor was silent… Continue reading
